The Woodland

Introducing The Woodland

Campbelltown Anglican Schools

A place for learning in creation

Nestled beside Broughton Anglican College, The Woodland is a 27-hectare native bushland property dedicated to outdoor education, sport, environmental stewardship and reflective time away from the classroom. It’s a space where students connect classroom learning with hands-on experiences; bushwalking, orienteering, environmental science, team-building and stewardship projects that deepen a sense of place, care and community.

Historically Linked

The Woodland sits on land with deep local roots. The parcel that became Broughton and the surrounding grounds has historic links to the Taber family, the land was originally promised to the Taber family by Lachlan Macquarie in 1835 and later donated for the establishment of the College. The Taber family has long been part of the Menangle/Menangle Park story, and their presence is reflected across the local landscape and place names.

What you'll find in The Woodland

  • Native bushland classroom: open areas and sheltered glades for lessons, storytelling and small-group work.
  • Outdoor skills zones: marked routes for orienteering, low-ropes/team-challenge equipment and safe places for supervised campfires and outdoor cooking.
  • Biodiversity learning sites: habitat plots for hands-on ecological study, birdwatching hides and citizen-science monitoring.
  • Reflection and prayer spaces: quiet pockets for devotional time or small worship gatherings, fitting with Campbelltown Anglican Schools’ Christian identity.

The Woodland is used for curriculum-linked field days, leadership training, Year group camps and special community events run by Campbelltown Anglican Schools.
